Ladyhawke
The 1980's were responsible for a lot of cheesy, poorly made, or otherwise objectively terrible movies, yet everyone seems to have one they secretly love despite being awful. What’s yours?

Theres so many.....
-Gymkata
-The Beastmaster 1&2
-The Best of the Best
-any American Ninja movie
-Delta Force
And I think I have all these on DVD too. I know how bad they are now, but when I was a kid, I loved all of them.

The Money Pit counts, right? I mean, I know it has a following, but the critics and Tom Hanks all hated it when it came out.

Two weeks!

Uh, the OP said “objectively terrible.” The film you have selected, sir, is objectively awesome.
Its sequels, on the other hand...

The Never Ending Story, duh. Explaining there aren’t dragon dogs to my kids was fun.

The Cannonball Run! :D

That line comes up all the time. Two weeks always means two months, minimum.

Rad.
Just awful, but still we watched it 100+ times thinking it was great.

Moonraker - stupid plot, aging Roger Moore, and cheap looking effects. I’ll still watch it, but worse is View to a Kill. Moore is 57, Tanya Roberts is unable to act, the plot is even dumber than Moonraker, and the horse nonsense at the beginning goes nowhere. And Roger Ebert hated it - I will not watch this Bond movie again, and I’m a fan. Grace Jones is the only good thing in the movie. Butterfly show in an Eiffel Tower restaurant that DOES NOT EXIST ... just STOP IT.

Stephen King’s IT. Even Sir Tim Curry couldn’t redeem it but I can’t not watch it
Non sequitur, I rewatched Willow a while back. It is as awesome now as it was when it came out

Also this but I argue it is to amazing to be a guilty pleasure
![]() 06/15/2018 at 01:01 |

Oh there are so many. Basically any action movie centered around one of the typical action stars of the time. A few faves that come to mind are Escape From New York, Bloodsport, and The Running Man.

I was going to say Dark City... But then I looked it up and realized it was 1998

The Beastmaster. When we first got cable, they were running it heavily on HBO and the other movie channels and we watched it dozens of times.

Houseboat horror

(edit) had to go with bad taste.. as brain dead came out two years too late... now that was a fantabulously bad great film

Not sure it was terrible or awful but:

Did you just call BTILC and EFNY bad movies?
![]() 06/15/2018 at 07:52 |

Words cannot describe how much I adore this movie. It is, no shit, one of my favorite movies of all time.

I have a few but the first couple that come to mind are Cocktail and Roadhouse. We let them play on repeat whenever the whole crew goes on a snowboarding trip.

Back when I had cable, I couldn’t not watch that whenever I found it on.

That’s what I came here to say!
![]() 06/15/2018 at 08:54 |

Came here for this. I was one of the ~4 americans to actually see this in a theater.

I read somewhere that Willow was intended to kick off a Star Wars/Indiana Jonesish style franchise. I am so disappointed that that never happened. Always loved the Madmartigan-Sorsha romance even more than Han-Leia.
![]() 06/15/2018 at 09:21 |

This IS a pretty terrible movie for objective reasons, but I love nonetheless. This is a pretty perfect choice.

That’s a hate watch classic.
![]() 06/15/2018 at 09:29 |

If you have about two hours to burn on the most insane movie that Ernest Borgnine has ever done, I invite you all to watch on YouTube a film that my dad got for me on VHS when I was six. He probably regretted it, because I about wore that tape down to ribbons.
![]() 06/15/2018 at 09:31 |

That’s a bad movie? :)
It was on TV the other day, I still love the car casting (both a Peugeot and a Citroen) and the ending.

Yes, both.

I miss Rad, the movie about the BMX race. It’s pretty hard to find now. It inspired some ugly bruises and scrapes for me.

Last action hero was released in 1993

Feels like 1983 to me

Did you injure yourself trying to do those sweet moves on a BMX too?
![]() 06/15/2018 at 10:02 |

But the effects are so much more sophisticated, I mean, expensive than most of those 80s classics. Have you seen Eraser?

Terence “Nobody”/”Trinity” Hill as a radiation accident superhero? FUCKING SOLD

Yep, plus I got kicked out of the school dance for dance-riding on the basketball court!
/s
![]() 06/15/2018 at 10:14 |

Were they playing Send Me an Angel at your dance too? That is the best damn scene.
I cannot honestly claim the movie aged well, but Lori Loughlin has.

This is from the 90's but its my newest guilty pleasure. I actually watched it twice this month. Both time really drunk and with different people, but still would recommend.
![]() 06/15/2018 at 10:38 |

I feel like that entire movie was written solely because someone got that song stuck in their head.

I kno rite? Best fucking movie.

Same on Willow.

... Carrie Fischer was awful.

Took me years to find this on disk.
![]() 06/16/2018 at 11:53 |

Uh, no. Escape from NY and BTILC, hell, at least Running Man, too, are generally recognized as influential movies that are still relevant today.
![]() 06/16/2018 at 11:55 |
|
that doesnt make them not bad :)
still love you tho
![]() 06/16/2018 at 12:09 |

Um, yes it does. If something is generally considered good, then that makes it not bad.
